In 1982 the UK Government, under Maggie Thatcher’s leadership, pulled the plug on the DeLorean car company, a business producing an exotic gull-winged sports car in Northern Ireland for the US market. The British taxpayers lost £80m or £232m in today’s money.

What happened? What was the car like? What was John DeLorean like and how did he persuade the UK Government to invest in such a risky venture? Why did the business fail? How did John DeLorean become embroiled in a cocaine sting operation orchestrated by the FBI?

Brett was a junior member of the receivership team for the DeLorean motor car company and on Thursday 4th March he will share the story.
